eMapSite.com
offers new map content for web site owners
Issue
date: Tuesday 9th January 2001
eMapSite.com
today announced they are offering specially priced introductory
map content solutions for web site owners who are looking for
informative and compelling map content for their web site.
The
special Introductory Offer solutions provide web site owners
with a choice of map content from a wide selection of international
city street maps plus UK maps centred on a user-entered postcode.
Unlike other map providers, the eMapSite content allows
users to seamlessly roam and zoom over the maps as if they were
paper maps rather than restricting them to pre-defined views.
This unique functionality is provided by the Image Web Server
technology, that enables the delivery of large image files in
real time over the web. To enjoy this functionality, users simply
have to download a small, self-installing plug-in.
Peter
Baynes, Marketing Manager, for eMapSite says “The Introductory
Offer solutions are aimed at those web site owners who want
to differentiate and add value to their site with information-rich
map content. For example, travel sites could use the map content
to illustrate their travel features and enhance their holiday
offerings.”
The
map content becomes an integral part of the customer’s web site
as maps are provided with the customer’s own advertising and
branding. Solutions are also implemented very quickly and simply
as the map content remains on eMapSite’s web servers.

information on the Introductory Offer solutions can be found

Note
for Editors
eMapSite.com
is a UK registered company based in Hampshire, England,
and established by James Cutler and Justin Saunders,
who share over 30 years GIS experience, the last 7 years with
their own consultancy, GISL Limited. eMapSite is the
first commercial service to deliver large-scale georeferenced
maps and images in real time over the Internet. eMapSite
uses Image Web Server technology that also allows the user to
interactively roam and zoom over imagery.
The new eMapSite service brings benefits to two
distinct markets: commercial map users, such as utilities, telcos,
the public sector and professional GIS users, who need easy,
affordable access to digital map data for their GIS applications;
and website owners who wish to add informative and compelling
mapping content to their websites. The eMapSite website
at www.emapsite.com went live on 30 June 2000. eMapSite
is enabled by Level 3 Communications. Image Web Server is a
product of Earth Resource Mapping (www.ermapper.com).
