eMapSite to show kiosk mapping solutions at GIS2001
Issue
date: 1 August 2001
Visitors
to the GIS 2001 exhibition, taking place at Earls Court 18-20
September 2001, who are looking for a traditional English pub,
or a fancy French restaurant, or even the nearest ATM or Post
Office will be able to get the answers from interactive touch-screen
information kiosks provided by eMapSite.
eMapSite, operators of the leading online distribution
portal for digital mapping, is using the exhibition as an opportunity
to show their innovative mapping solutions for kiosks and public
information points.
GIS
2001 visitors will be greeted by three kiosks located in the
entrance area of the exhibition. These will provide visitors
access to interactive maps and photography, from leading suppliers
such as the Ordnance Survey, Getmapping and Lovell Johns, combined
with comprehensive local information supplied by e-street.com,
the premier on-line city guide. eMapSite's' mapping solutions
provide unique interactivity for the user, with seamless zooming
and panning over maps and aerial photography, integrated with
touch-sensitive icons that show the location of places to visit,
shop, eat, drink, party and stay.
The
mapping solutions can be supplied as a complete turnkey solution
or as part of a networked or web-based solution, and can be
configured to suit a myriad of needs, ranging from tourism through
to public services. eMapSite have recently developed
and delivered a turnkey kiosk mapping solution that will be
installed in a new Camden Lock Visitor Centre in London in September.
With partners Avatar Interactive, eMapSite are also developing
a web-based kiosk solution for the Ordnance Survey that will
allow visitor access to a range of Ordnance Survey products.
