eMapSite at Geo Solutions 2002

Issue date: 17th September 2002

New Products and Services

As ever eMapSite has an exciting portfolio of existing and entirely new products and services to showcase. With the level of interest being generated by the Pan Government Agreement (PGA) and OS MasterMap in particular, eMapSite will be highlighting the following:

After many months of product development and a year after OS MasterMap was first launched by Ordnance Survey, eMapSite have agreed licensing terms for two added value products that incorporate OS MasterMap:

BaseURL

As an appetite wetter our BaseURL product extends established eMapSite services in delivering a raster product in which the selected large-scale features are shown against a backdrop of aerial photography or other contextual mapping. Now users have the best of both worlds all in one single product, dramatically enhancing traditional ways of working with large scale data.

Value Added MasterMap

Our other product announcement is being kept back until the opening day of the show! However, it does represent a step-change for users seeking to make the most from TOID based mapping and comes with eMapSite's proven delivery capability and ability to provide strategically priced geographic data products as standard.

Hosted Services

And, while many of you will know and be using our hosted services, be it for your data, your web services, your kiosks or for trials related to the PGA, eMapSite is now offering discounted hosted services for geographic data to all organisations that are signatories to any Service Level Agreement. This offer covers every organisation within the Civil Service Yearbook as well as every local authority and utility in Great Britain.

As some eligible organisations rarely use geographic data, hosted data services represent the simplest, swiftest, most cost-effective way to make the most of the various agreements that central government, local government and the utilities (lead respectively by ODPM, IDeA and NJUG) have forged with Ordnance Survey. In accordance with their DNI initiative eMapSite is similarly pleased to be able to offer getmapping aerial photography for the whole of England and Wales within our hosted services programme.

eMapSite's hosted services are easy to use, offer universal access at reduced cost and are available today. Our existing client base includes the Ordnance Survey and already trials are underway with other eligible organisations.

eMapSite hosted services:

  • Allow users to view, browse, print and share geographic data using just a web browser, Word or other Office application (as well as a GIS or CAD system)
  • Preclude the need to invest in infrastructure
  • Eliminate the resources required for internal distribution
  • Provide universal simultaneous access across all offices and departments
  • Open up map access to all remote workers at no additional cost
  • Reduce downtime and increase productivity
  • Are supported by all major GIS
  • Frees up staff to explore, exploit and use geographic data

Signatories can achieve the benefits of organisation-wide access to geographic data including Ordnance Survey mapping and getmapping aerial photography from less than £5,000 per annum.

In addition, by ordering BaseURL as a hosted product users will be able to view, browse, print and share their new OS MasterMap based products within their web browser, Office application or GIS across their organisation immediately.
