eMapSite.com
becomes reseller for Bartholomew Mapping Solutions
Issue
date: 4 August 2000
eMapSite.com
announces that they have established a reseller agreement with
Bartholomew Mapping Solutions to enable map users to obtain
Bartholomew maps via eMapSite’s new web-based digital mapping
service.
The new eMapSite service
will be exhibited at GIS 2000, taking place at Earls Court London,
26-28 September.
Duncan
Pickering, Bartholomew Data Sales Manager is enthusiastic about
the agreement: “Over the past few years we have been working
extremely hard to make our data products compatible with, and
easy to use in a web environment.
We are very pleased that eMapSite
has recognised the quality and range of these London, GB, European
and World map data sets.”
Bartholomew
maps are available on the eMapSite
website that has been established to initially meet the needs
of two markets: large commercial digital map users and web-sites
owners.
For
web-site owners, eMapSite
offers innovative solutions for providing relevant and informative
location-specific content such as maps, aerial photography and
satellite imagery. Links are provided to pre-defined views of
eMapSite
mapping but the eMapSite
then enables site visitors to seamlessly zoom and pan to their
area of interest from within their browser while remaining within
the host website.
For
commercial map users, the innovative website at eMapSite.com
provides access to data from a growing list of leading map and
image publishers. Based on Image Web Server technology, the
site enables users to search, browse, zoom, view, link to, print
and download the available map data over the internet to suit
their specific requirements. eMapSite
enables such clients to use the data in their own GIS, CAD and
other image processing and office applications.
eMapSite
also enables the user to select and buy only the data they want,
rather than having to purchase whole or pre-defined maps. And
as delivery is via the Web, there are no delays or additional
delivery costs. As James Cutler, eMapSite’s
Chief Executive and joint-founder explains “eMapSite
makes obtaining maps simpler and more cost-effective, thereby
widening the market for our suppliers’ data. It truly is a win-win
situation with benefits for both users and suppliers alike.”

Note
for Editors
eMapSite.com
is a UK registered company based in Hampshire, England,
and established by James Cutler and Justin Saunders,
who share over 30 years GIS experience, the last 7 years with
their own consultancy, GISL Limited. eMapSite is the
first commercial service to deliver large-scale georeferenced
maps and images in real time over the Internet. eMapSite
uses Image Web Server technology that also allows the user to
interactively roam and zoom over imagery.
The new eMapSite service brings benefits to two
distinct markets: commercial map users, such as utilities, telcos,
the public sector and professional GIS users, who need easy,
affordable access to digital map data for their GIS applications;
and website owners who wish to add informative and compelling
mapping content to their websites. The eMapSite website
at www.emapsite.com went live on 30 June 2000. eMapSite
is enabled by Level 3 Communications. Image Web Server is a
product of Earth Resource Mapping (www.ermapper.com).
