date:11 August 2000
eMapSite.com
announces that they have established a reseller agreement with
The GeoInformation Group to enable map users to obtain the Cities
Revealed aerial photography via eMapSite’s new web-based digital
mapping service.
This will provide one of the first facilities to access and
purchase Cities Revealed aerial photography online, eventually
expanding to cover over 100 urban areas across the UK and overseas,
including Birmingham, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Johannesburg
and Tokyo, representing over 1 terabyte of data.
The new eMapSite service will be exhibited at GIS 2000,
taking place at Earl’s Court London, 26-28 September.
The
GeoInformation Group are amongst a growing list of leading map
and image publishers whose data is available from the innovative
website at www. emapsite.com.
Dr.
Alun Jones, co-founder of The GeoInformation Group remarked
“We are delighted that our immense and valuable archive of imagery
is now available online via eMapSite.”
“Our
service revolutionises the way that large commercial map users
obtain their data”, says James Cutler, eMapSite’s
Chief Executive and joint-founder. “It reduces the cost of sourcing,
obtaining, storing and distributing the data as we look after
all the issues related to updating, maintenance, copyright and
royalties.”
eMapSite
has been established to initially meet the needs of two markets:
large commercial digital map users, such as utilities, telcos,
public sector, and professional GIS users, who need easy, affordable
access to digital maps for their GIS applications; and web-sites
owners who require exciting and dynamic mapping content, such
as those related to tourism, travel, leisure, property and news.
