eMapSite
becomes Ordnance Survey licensed partner
Issue
date:26 September 2000
eMapSite.com
today announced that they have been appointed an Ordnance Survey
licensed partner. This allows them to sell and redistribute
Ordnance Survey map data via their revolutionary web-based service
at www.emapsite.com.
The
new agreement will allow eMapSite
to offer and deliver Ordnance Survey raster map images to commercial
maps users, such as utilities, telcos, the public sector and
professional GIS users, via the Internet for use in their GIS
applications. eMapSite
is the first commercial service to deliver georeferenced map
images in real time over the Internet. eMapSite
uses Image Web Server technology that allows the user to interactively
roam and zoom over imagery. This technology also enables eMapSite
to offer exciting solutions to website owners who wish to add
informative and compelling mapping content to their websites.
Steve
Johnson, Partnership Licensing Account Manager at Ordnance Survey
says “Making our data available via eMapSite
opens up a new online channel for us and will make Ordnance
Survey maps even more accessible to those who need high quality
maps to use in their business or on their website.”
eMapSite’s
founder and Chief Executive, James Cutler adds “Ordnance Survey
join a growing list of leading map and image publishers whose
data is available from eMapSite.com.
Our service makes obtaining maps simpler and more affordable,
as users are able to browse, select and buy only the data they
need and have it delivered directly to their desktop. We are
widening and deepening the market for the Ordnance Survey maps.”
