Functional Requirements Specification
Typically a functional requirements specification is one of the deliverables to
emerge from an initial technology consultancy engagement in which broad (and focused)
assessments are made of various aspects of an enterprise to address one or more
business drivers. The objective of these “needs assessments” is to identify, and
to an extent make a judgement on, the value, quality and outcomes of options for
achieving the real and perceived benefits that underpin the business drivers.
emapsite personnel have decades of experience in both the broad requirements of
organisational needs assessments and in the specific discipline of functional requirements
specification, in relation to location/spatially aware applications. Typically such
requirements can be broken down into functional and non-functional. Our clients
and partners can be assured that emapsite’s platform provides proven, resilient
architecture for satisfaction of the most arduous (i.e. high volume) applications.
The requirements for location intelligence oriented applications are rich and varied,
from “dumb” map services to browser based web-GIS. emapsite personnel have been
working in the GIS arena for three decades and are familiar with the whole gamut
of possibilities and how these can be implemented to meet the underlying requirement.
