Web Services and Web Mapping
emapsite is a location intelligence (geo)web services powerhouse. Our belief is
that our early adoption of web services technology reduces integration complexity
for ourselves and prospective partners and clients, enabling us to establish stronger
and faster relationships with those customers and partners. This in turn means fast
turnaround time for services and reduced time to market for products for our customers.
Web Services technology, and specifically location related web services technology,
allows customers to leverage their existing information databases and IT applications.
In the case of geospatial web services this typically occurs by embedding external
web services within the existing IT architecture. However, emapsite’s expertise
across the web services space includes helping clients to move business processes
to the “edge”, making them accessible beyond their usual space, and enabling emapsite
and third parties to integrate more swiftly and seamlessly with the required processes
and deliver business value.
emapsite subscribes to the principles of a service oriented architecture paradigm
in which all processes are “packaged” as “services” and the underpinning IT infrastructure
allows different applications to exchange data and “participate” in business processes
without being close-coupled to that architecture or those processes. Such
a loosely coupled, decomposed model demands the creation of functionality as discrete
elements which can be distributed and re-used according to need across whatever
network requires them. Geographic web services delivered according to these principles
can be architected into other applications. emapsite uses WSDL, SOAP and XML
metadata to ensure that our web services can be used effectively over standard internet
protocols, independent from platform and programming language.
