BGS Permeability

BGS Permeability - sample image

Permeability indices are based on geological considerations, including the the predominant flow mechanism (intergranular, fracture or a mixture). Dataset indicates the range of permeability likely to be encountered for each geological unit, with maximum and minimum permeability indices divided into five classes from very high to very low.

Permeability data is used in studies of groundwater and in investigations of pollution or aquifer contamination.
