New Street Map products from leading suppliers

We continue to add data to our site at www.emapsite.com, and in the next couple of months or so, we will be offering new 1:10,000 scale street map products from the Ordnance Survey and Lovell Johns. These maps have been optimised for Internet use and offer an attractive new option for those looking for information-rich maps to use in their Internet or Intranet applications. We will be processing this data to offer seamless data sets that can be delivered and viewed in real-time over standard Internet connections. Keep an eye on our web site for further news, or contact us now for more information.

New guide on how to use eMapSite

We continue to make changes to our web site to make it easier for you to use and get information on our services.

You will have noticed some changes to our home page, but we have also added some new instructions on how to use the site and how to load a sample data set into your GIS or MS Office applications. To view and download this PDF file click on Help then select "How to use eMapSite" or click here.

Remember, the easiest way to view a list of available map and image data for your location, is to use the Find-a-Map search box, located in the middle left-hand side of the home page. Just type your required location in the box (either a place name, such as Reading or a UK postcode, such as RG27 0RP) and then click on "Go". You will be asked to confirm your location selection and then a list of available map data for that location will be returned.

Hot tips on viewing aerial photography

When viewing and browsing aerial photography, you can make it easier to find out where you are by selecting "Geolinked maps" from the "Select map controls…" drop down menu. This will split the display window to show a detailed map alongside the aerial photograph. You can zoom and pan on either the map or the photograph. Remember, the aerial photography on eMapSite has been degraded to 2m resolution - when you buy, we deliver the full resolution data (usually 25cm, dependent on provider).
