GIS2001
Good to see you there if you were and sorry if you were
unable to make it to the first chance to see our mapping
application kiosks. Taking a rather different approach
from GIS2000 eMapSite had instead a small booth and 4
colourful and exciting kiosks located around the show
showing a variety of applications.
Visitor-centric map kiosks are ideal for Tourist Information
Centres (TICs), train, tube and bus stations, the tourism
and leisure industries, corporate hospitality and any
other location where the public might seek information
on a 24 hour basis.
Citizen-centric or "citizen-links" versions
also offer local authorities the facility to provide locality
specific information to their stakeholders using different
data. The key thing is the ease of access and the role
of mapping.

Kiosks
And talking of kiosks:
Camden Lock Information Centre opens for business
this weekend. As you extract yourself from the market
this Sunday in search of a cup of coffee, dive into the
Grade II listed building next to the lock and sample a
latte, a light lunch and a look at the latest in map centric
public information points. Four touch screen interfaces
afford access to over 5,000 locations within the Borough
of Camden enabling you to find a museum to visit, a specialist
retail outlet, an ATM or even somewhere else to eat, all
through the easy to use map and airphoto interface showing
your favourite haunts as you've never seen them before.
And the kiosk tells you how to get between all these places
by bus too!
New
Forest Tourist Information Centre, Lyndhurst, England:
the Ordnance Survey recently completed installation of
their latest map viewing and printing kiosk developed
by eMapSite If you are passing pop-in to print off a full
colour map of your area of interest at 1:50,000 scale
or 1:25,000 scale.
Ordnance
Survey, Southampton, England: has taken delivery of
a variant of the printing kiosk for use in their Business
Centre and in external marketing activities. Any time
you visit their headquarters keep an eye out.
Please
contact us for our Press Release on the coming of mapping
applications for kiosks.

Website
Update
See our improvements in the Buy process, keep track of
our press releases, see what other software now supports
ECW format data and URL delivery; keep coming back as
we will be augmenting the applications pages and other
areas of the website over the next quarter.
OS
MasterMap
We can't pretend you read about it here first as the OS
has a major marketing blitz on ahead of the formal launch
of the much-heralded national data infrastructure that
is the OS MasterMap.
If you have any questions at all about this data set and
its implications for your business in technical and commercial
areas please contact us. And, if you are wondering what
products eMapSite are bringing to market based on OS MasterMap
then watch this space.
In the meantime you can request quotes for period licensed
data with us by emailing osm@emapsite.com
or faxing (0118 973 0002) the details of your area of
interest. Please use full OS grid references and advise
your preferred delivery format and we will return a quote
to you.
Aerial
Photography
England is covered - at 25cm resolution! If you live in
England, work in England, have friends or relations in
England or have business interests in England then geo-corrected
aerial photography for your area of interest is available
from eMapSite.
Wales and Scotland are also nearing completion with all
the major urban areas now available and more than 50%
of Northern Ireland has now been flown.
So, whatever your area, come browse and buy at eMapSite.
AGI
Conference 2001
As those who attended will know our Chief Executive gave
the opening paper on the first day. If you would like
a copy of his paper "G2B - bringing geography to
business, e-procurement comes to mapping" or of the
presentation please contact this office.
OS
Internet Street Map
As you may know eMapSite was the first (and still only)
reseller to offer this 1:10000 scale street level mapping
product from the OS online. It is exceptionally priced
for the quantity of information within it and should be
a must-have procurement item where street-sensitive information
is essential in communicating with stakeholders. While
the product has been taken up extensively online it offers
a host of benefits in other areas.
Please contact Miles Gabriel (miles.gabriel@emapsite.com)
to find out more.
Spreading
the Word
In our endeavours to minimise spam and maintain good customer
relations we recognise that we may only be communicating
with one individual, project or department within your
organisation.
If you are a client then we value your custom, your goodwill
and your feedback and we hope that you appreciate the
benefits of using eMapSite for your geographic data procurement
requirements. We would be delighted if you were able to
advise us of other individuals to whom we could send this
newsletter or if you can circulate this within your organisation
yourself. We are sure that your colleagues will also want
to benefit from eMapSite's services. Even if you are not
yet a client please visit our website or contact us directly
to learn more about the benefits and why the country's
blue-chips continue to migrate to our services.
Wrapping
up for autumn but keeping our nose and our services out
front!
