Windstorm can cause the greatest insured property loss in Europe and there is a continual need to improve and update its understanding within the UK market. Such exposure can be reduced by pricing risk at a local level but this is only possible with an understanding of local hazard.
The emapsite windstorm model covers England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland, including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands and provides postcode-sector level granularity along with detailed risk scoring.

• The perils model incorporates best in class windstorm 4.4km resolution gridded data from the Met Office.
• Met Office data values represent hourly maximum gust speeds from a hindcast using the Euro4 model, derived from a 35 year history, using Wind data sampled at a height of 10 metres.
• Data from three return periods are incorporated and scored, from which a combined risk score per postcode sector is derived.
• The dataset is available as a complete file (.csv) or through webservices from the emapsite Perils data hub.
