OS NGD Buildings Theme - sample image

OS NGD Buildings Theme contains features for permanent roofed constructions in Great Britain, usually with walls.  It is comprised of three Feature Types: Building Line, Building Part, and Building:

- Building: provides building footprint geometry, access location and data for the presence of a basement and basement flats, building age (year and/or period), construction material and a descriptive value for an understanding of what the building feature represents (e.g. residential/commercial, type of business use, whether the building is detached, terraced etc.). Also provides information for roof shape/aspect and the presence of solar panels/green roofs.

- Building Line: provides line geometry and represents a wall between two buildings, building internal divisions, or an overhanging building edge.

- Building Part: A polygon feature representing either a complete separate building, or part of a larger building where internal divisions exist from ground to roof level which can be identified externally (e.g. multistorey car park).

OS NGD Buildings Theme contains embedded height attribution enabling users to create simple height models (Level of Detail #1 - LOD1) and provides unique identifiers Ordnance Survey Identifier (OSID) and Topographical Identifier (TOID) for data linking and analysis.
