OS NGD Land Use Theme provides data that represents geographical areas having a specific functional purpose (e.g. school, hospital). It contains the data from OSMM Greenspace and OSMM Sites Layer and provides richer attribution describing the human or economic activity taking place on areas of land.

OS NGD Land Use Theme comprises the OS NGD Land Use Features Collection, which in turn has Feature Types for Site and Site Access Location:

- Site: a polygon feature indicating the recognisable extent of certain types of function or activity (e.g. beach, school, hospital, railway station, waste disposal site, wind farm...) along with a land use description, Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) of the address record considered most likely to represent the same site where available, address land use classification code, counts of addresses in a site (residential, commercial), National Land Use Database (NLUD) code and site status.

- Site Access Location: a point geometry with description representing the location(s) where pedestrians and/or vehicles can enter or exit a site.

OS NGD Land Use Theme provides unique identifiers, including Ordnance Survey ID (OSID), Topographic identifier (TOID) and Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN), along with a cross reference table mapping Site to Address, for data linking and analysis.
