The consumer often thinks of this sector as being synonymous with PNDs (personal navigation devices) and routing.  In reality, ensuring the driver gets the right package to the right location at the right time requires a far more holistic approach embracing supply chain integration, real time traffic information, streetworks notifications, access restrictions (time, width, weight, height), drive time compliance, procurement terms and so on.  Geography is one mechanism by which the implications of the various constraints can be understood and managed.
